Despite it being the colour of bravery and valour, purple is also low on the popularity scale. But, a Purple Haze still rates better than a mellow yellow. Purple also signifies richness and opulence; associated with royalty and clergy. These days, most people don’t realise it, but Vincent Van Gogh’s painting of his bedroom was regarded as an outrage because he painted the walls purple and the floor red. However, the pigments weren’t stable enough to withstand the passage of time. In fact, Van Gogh predicted that they would fade to become the dull blue and brown we see today.
